Week 7 displayed two more shocking results to add to this season. Zum Schneider F.C 03 was yet again the protagonist of one of these unexpected results as they stunned top-half club Shamrocks with a 1-0 victory to go on a four-game winning run in all competitions after starting the season with four consecutive losses.
As for the other improbable scoreline, last placed Central Park Rangers Whites drew with second placed NY Pancyprian Freedoms, 1-1.
Elsewhere Bledi Bardic was on target again as he netted the lone goal of Cedar Stars Academy’s 1-0 win over NY Athletic Club. Lansdowne Yonkers F.C. forward Jack Doherty also kept his tremendous scoring run rolling, hitting two past Doxa S.C. to lead his side to a 3-2 victory. And NY Greek Americans hopped to third spot on Sunday afternoon after defeating Hoboken F.C. 1912, 3-1.
Zum continues to turn things around as they upset Shamrocks 1-0
Zum Schneider F.C. 03 started their season from the bottom with four straight losses and now they’re here in sixth place after three consecutive 1-0 league-victories, besting champions Lansdowne Yonkers F.C., Doxa S.C. and fifth placed Shamrocks recently on Saturday evening at Randall’s Island Field 75.
ZSFC head coach Alexander Berscheid came into the game assured that his side would win and brought a bottle of champagne to celebrate a four-game win streak in all competitions (outside the CSL the club also downed Glen Cove 5-0 in the Manning State Cup) after their rough start of the season.
“We finally popped that bottle of champagne,” Berscheid told a CSL reporter, “I had it on the field. I felt confident and knew we would win. The team is playing well and really wanted this win. Now you can call this a [win] streak.”
Zum’s summer signing Ifiok Akpandak was red-carded 30 minutes before time. But being down a man wasn’t an issue for the German club as they netted the winner in the 70th minute when Christopher 'Julian' Poppensieker headed Saad Afif’s corner kick in the net.
Julian scored all of Zum’s goal in their three consecutive 1-0 league-wins with his head from Afif's corner kicks.
“Groundhog time. Copy the last three games! Saad Afif to Julian Poppensieker! Believe it or not. Pretty crazy,” an excited Berscheid went on to telling the CSL reporter.
CPR holds Pancyprians to a 1-1 draw
Central Park Rangers Whites were two minutes away from beating CSL giants NY Pancyprian Freedoms to win their first match of the season, but Grenada international Shavon John-Brown came to the Cypriot club's rescue with a late 1-1 equalizer on Sunday night at Randall’s Island Field 75.
James Greco gave Central Park the lead in the 15th minute when he struck a shot in the net from just inside the box from Fabricio Lima’s pass.
After assisting Greco's goal, Lima almost made it 2-0 but couldn’t find the net in a 1-v-1 situation with the opposite keeper.
The Freedoms also missed a crucial scoring opportunity late in the first half as keeper Ricky Bowry saved Andreas Chronis' spot kick.
NY Pancyprians didn’t score the equalizer until the 88th minute when John-Brown steered the ball beyond Bowry in the net after completing a well-crafted one-two with Jeff Matteo.

NYPF goes on a three-match winless run after starting the season with seven consecutive victories.

Jack Doherty hasn’t been a bad signing for Lansdowne Yonkers F.C. He hasn’t been a bad signing at all.
The Irishman scored in all of the Bhoys’ last seven matches, tallying 11 goals. His last two goals pushed Lansdowne to a 3-2 victory over Doxa S.C. on Saturday night home at Tibbetts Brook Park Field 3.
However Doxa was the first team that lighted up Tibbetts Brook’s scoreboard as returnee Stephanos Hondrakis scored his first goal back with the club in the fifth minute from Dominick Falango’s pass.
Aaron Dennis tied it for the Bhoys in the 20th minute, beating two Doxa players in a 30-yard run before slotting a low shot in the net.
Five minutes later Doherty managed to hit a shot in the goal in a scramble in the six-yard box.
Doxa went back on level term in the 41st minute when Robert Cabrera converted a spot kick that was drawn by Kosta Pappa.
Doherty put the Irish club back on top an hour into the game as he one-timed Sean Kelly’s low cross in the near left corner of the net.
Doxa looked for an equalizer late in the game but could only hit the woodwork in the 85th minute.
Bardic’s goal carries CSA to a 1-0 win over NY Athletic
Cedar Stars Academy forward Bledi Bardic.
Cedar Stars Academy edged NY Athletic Club, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon away from home at Travers Island.
After controlling Chris Riordan’s pass, Bledi Bardic went on an alluring run, in which he beat two NYAC defenders and their keeper then slotted a shot in the net.
CSA remains the only perfect CSL team after this victory, winning their first 11 matches.
NY Greeks conquer Hoboken 3-1
NY Greek Americans overpowered Hoboken F.C. 1912, 3-1, away from home at Stephen R. Gregg Park Turf Field 1.
Pat McCann opened the scoring for the Greeks in the 11th minute from Adam Marcu’s feed. Sean Reilly made it 2-0 as he found the net via Charlie Ledula’s pass in the 31st minute.
NYGA scored a third unanswered goal later in the 57th minute when Stone Strongin found the net from Matthew Giaconelli’s pass.
Thomas Hogue pulled one back for Hoboken in the 80th minute.
The Jersey club is on a four-game losing streak, in which they played powerclubs Shamrocks, NY Pancyprians, Cedar Stars and NY Greeks respectively. Meanwhile the Greeks jump back to a winning note in the league after losing to NY Athletic and NY Pancyprians.
